Caribbean Seasonings

Caribbeans love to season their food with a variety of different spices and herbs because it gives food a lot more flavour.

The small island of Grenada is known as the 'Island of Spice' and the spice nutmeg, is referred to as 'black gold' amongst Grenadians. 

Many other Caribbean islands produce a variety of spices as well as herbs which are used in both their food and drink.

Popular Caribbean spices and herbs include allspice (also known as pimento), ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, garlic, paprika, thyme, pepper, chives, pepper and chilli.
